Instructions before updating your firmware

• This service provides software for upgrading COOLPIX S4100 firmware to Ver. 1.1 . Verify your camera’s firmware version from the Firmware version item in the setup menu. If the firmware version previously indicated is already installed in your camera, you need not update the firmware.

• Be sure to read the section below regarding modifications enabled with upgrade before upgrading the firmware.

• The camera may be damaged if power is interrupted or camera controls are operated during the update. Do not turn the camera off, remove or disconnect the power source, or operate camera controls during the update. If the update is not completed successfully and the camera becomes inoperable, take the camera to a Nikon-authorized service representative for inspection.
  
  If, for any reason, you are unsure on how to update your camera’s firmware yourself, please take your camera to an authorized Nikon service representative, where they will perform the update for you.

• When firmware is updated, images recorded to the camera’s internal memory are erased.
  Be sure to back up necessary images recorded to the camera’s internal memory to an SD memory card or computer before upgrading the firmware.

Modifications enabled with firmware Ver. 1.1

• When the Charging AC Adapter EH-69P and USB Cable UC-E6 were connected to the camera to charge the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL19 with the EN-EL19 at or very near full exhaustion, the battery sometimes could not be charged. This issue has been resolved.
